Due to the needs of the production process, the customer requires year-round refrigeration with high cooling capacity. If conventional air-cooled screw chillers are used, the operating costs are very high. Understanding the customer's energy consumption requirements and the ambient temperature, our company has developed an energy-saving solution with natural cooling based on conventional air-cooled screw chillers. In summer, the unit compressor starts and operates, consistent with conventional air-cooled screw chillers, and the natural cooling coil is closed. During the transition seasons, when the ambient temperature is 2°C or more lower than the chilled water return temperature, the natural cooling coil is activated for cooling. This part uses natural cooling refrigeration without compressor power consumption. When the natural cooling part cannot meet the temperature requirements, the compressor assists in cooling to meet the demand. In winter, when the ambient temperature is 8°C or more lower than the chilled water return temperature, natural cooling starts until it can reach 100% of the unit's cooling capacity, achieving complete natural cooling refrigeration, and the compressor system is shut down. The unit consumes no compressor power, only a small amount of fan power. As the ambient temperature further decreases, the number and power of the fans will also be adjusted accordingly, with intelligent control of the unit.
